Writing the introductory paragraph

You do not need to write a long introductory paragraph for your in-class or out-of-class papers. Write a one- or two-sentence introduction, with one more sentence — your thesis statement — at the end of this paragraph. In other words, the total number of sentences in your introduction will be, except in rare instances, two or three.
